I have done some lace projects from A Gathering of Lace (for a shawl), Heirloom Knitting (edgings), Victorian Lace today (scarf) and Best of Interweave (entrelac lace stole). The pattern is the main motif from A Gathering of Lace's Shaped Triangle Shawl. Be a triangular shawl, with a little extra shaping to drape over the shoulders better (hence the boomerang shape rather than a plain triangle). I had thought I'd not encountered Debbie New's work before, but reading through more thoroughly today, I spied the lace coracle she made for Meg Swanson's 'A Gathering of Lace'. Crossing white bands with delicate, black lace overlay accentuate the gathered bodice, while a flattering yoke neckline, subtle bodice cutout, and flowy skirt round out the finishing touches of this fully lined frock's silhouette. I used a gathering stitch in the middle bottom of my lace to add a ruffled gather. For the gorgeous lace yarn, have you considered the Shaped Triangle Shawl from A Gathering of Lace? I made my lace back piece a bit larger than the old back piece so I could add a ruffle/pleat. It was the shawl that got me interested in lace. Finished – See previous post.
